Winter Recording

Recording at TroutLot’s of recording going on over here in 2013! I recently spent a few days tracking bass for James “Roto” Rotondi’s new record, which I promise will be epic to say the least. Roto really went all out on this one. I don’t know where to start… Bryce Goggin producing, Paul Amorese, Chris Heinz, and Shawn Pelton on drums, John Deley on piano/keyboards, Richard Hammond and myself on bass. There were rented instruments, live strings, tape machines, a Neve console… I can’t wait to hear this thing.

I also recently began rehearsals/pre-production for Oscar Rodriguez’s new record. We start tracking in April at the beautiful Guilford Sound. Oscar on guitar/vocals/songs, Gunnar Olsen on drums, and Dave Sherman on keys. The music is sounding fantastic.

And I promise… the new Knights on Earth album is close. We’ve been working on it. It’s coming…

Beacon Theater

Last week I got to play at the Beacon Theater with Only Son, opening for the extremely talented Regina Spektor. My parents and wife to be were in attendance. Glad I didn’t listen to my high school counselor when she told me NOT to go into music. True story.

Watch Jack and Regina’s new video, “Call Them Brothers” on YouTube.

They’ll be on tour together through December so check them out! Remaining tour dates are HERE.

This summer is awesome.

Greetings from Brooklyn! Lots to report… This has been the busiest summer of my life. I recently spent a few days at Trout recording basics with the French band, the Two. Bryce Goggin behind the console, drumming responsibilities split up between Tony Mason and Parker Kindred. Doesn’t get much better than that. A true pleasure.

I’d like to thank Jack Dolgen, Amy Lynn and the Gunshow, Windsor Field, Bacci, and of course the Redhook Orchestra for making this such a memorable summer. Bar gigs, festivals, weddings, clubs… I’ve seriously enjoyed all of it. Such an honor to play/hang with all of you.

Lots in store for August…

-Live shows with Cinjun Tate, Knights on Earth, Amy Lynn and the Gunshow, and Bacci.

-Jerseyband’s CD Release Show (There are serious surprises for this one… Trust me).

-I get to play at the Greek Theatre in LA, with Only Son… opening for Regina Spektor.

I hope to see you out there!

Filming “The Next Big Thing: NY”

Last week I had the great pleasure of playing in the house band for the TV show, “The Next Big Thing: NY”. The show will premiere in June on the Oxygen network. Huge thanks to Aguilar Amplification for providing me with an awesome bass rig for the taping.

“The Next Big Thing: NY” features Trapper Felides, a top New York City performance coach and musical director who gives his clients the blunt truth and tough love they need to succeed. The series will follow Felides as he mentors a group of performers, and takes on stage moms, as they prepare for their next career changing audition or their big music industry break.”

The guys over at Aguilar Amplification were nice enough to help me put together a new rig for these dates. I had the great pleasure of visiting their NYC headquarters to try out a bunch of gear. I’m very excited to be on board with such a great company! More on that shortly…

A Cold, Yet Busy Winter

Hello there, just wanted to give a quick update on what’s been going on, since I promised to consistently update my website in 2012!

February has been great to me so far. Last week I had the pleasure of doing some recording with the band, Valley Young. Great people, great songs. The mighty Bryce Goggin was producing/engineering and Parker Kindred was on drums. Believe it or not, I used Parker’s Mother’s Kay M-1 upright (which happened to be at the studio) on a few songs…

In other news, my great friend and Knights on Earth drummer, Gunnar Olsen recently released his first EP under the name FUTURES. I was lucky enough to play on a few tracks. This one features Alan Wilkis on vocals and myself on bass. Give it a listen:

Lastly, I’ve got a bunch of really great shows coming up this month with Knights on Earth, Only Son, Amy Lynn and the Gunshow, John Deley’s 41 Players and more. Check the SHOWS page for details. Hope to see you out there!

The 45′s Release Second Album, “Let’s Eat”

I’m very happy to announce that the 45′s second release, “Let’s Eat” is now available on iTunes and Bandcamp. Produced by Bryce Goggin (Spacehog, Phish), this album was recorded at Trout Studios and was so much fun to make. In addition to playing bass, I was able to sneak in some percussion and background vocals too…

This is my favorite song from the album:
